What are the benefits to study ukulele at the Napa School of Music?

Established in 2005, Napa School of Music has been an integral part of the Napa Valley music community, promoting music education, performance, and collaboration amongst students of all ages and abilities. In addition to private lessons, Napa School of Music offers a wide range of group classes, summer camps and rock band programs. Lessons at Napa School of  Music can encompass the entire music making experience, guiding students from the early stages of learning an instrument, to performing, recording, and beyond!

Our guitar instructors are warm and friendly, and get to know each student and parent on a personal level. We work with you to pair you with the right teacher and craft a lesson plan that fits your individual needs and the student's favorite type of music. All ages and ability levels are welcome.

What styles of ukulele do you teach?

We teach all styles from folk to country, reggae and rock-n-roll styles ‍— and classical too

What will I learn from ukulele lessons at the Academy?

Beginner ukulele students can expect to work on chords, simple songs and melodies, sight reading and theory. Our instructors balance musicianship and fun by making sure that each lesson presents a new technical challenges or theory concept, and ends with something fun, such as your favorite riff or song. Instructors draw from a wide variety of teaching resources ranging from traditional Hal Leonard and Alfred method books to modern online practice tools and music apps. Napa School of Music instructors take great care in providing a structured means of musical advancement, exploration, and most importantly fun!

Are there ukulele recitals?‍

Absolutely! Every January and June, our students have the opportunity to perform at the Napa School of Music Recitals Event. You can invite all of your family and friends

Do I need to purchase a ukulele to learn the instrument?

Napa School of Music offers a selection of ukulele for student lessons (for your convenience, students can use one of ours at their first lesson). But to practice at home, you will need a guitar. We offer a variety of rental instruments appropriate for beginners.

How qualified are your ukulele instructors?

A musically diverse roaster of highly qualified instructors is one the many benefits of taking lessons at  the Napa School of Music. All of our instructors have extensive teaching experience as well as degreed credentials. Our teaching professionals are qualified to teach any level of ability from complete beginners to advanced professionals.
